Security Alert Radisson Hotels Credit/Debit Card Data Breach
What happened?
TD Bank was recently notified by Visa® that an illegal data intrusion into Radisson Hotels’ computer network may have resulted in the theft of some of a limited number of our Customers’ credit and debit card numbers. The intrusion affected a limited number of Radisson hotel locations in the United States and Canada. Radisson Hotels is running full-page advertisements in the Wall Street Journal and USA Today as well as mailing letters to impacted cardholders.
How does this impact me?
Some TD Bank Customers are affected and we are working with Visa and other agencies in the preliminary stages of this investigation. However, it is important to note that a security breach of this nature is card information only no personal information linked to card numbers, such as Social Security numbers or personal identification (PIN) numbers were accessed. Working in conjunction with Visa, we are closely monitoring these cards for suspicious activity. We have sophisticated fraud detection software that monitors every card transaction 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. And remember, with Visa's Zero Liability fraud protection, you are not responsible for any unauthorized transactions on your TD Bank debit or credit card accounts, as long as you notify us in a timely manner. At this time we do not have plans to reissue credit or debit cards to impacted Customers due to the aforementioned fraud detection tools we have in place.

A: The breach reportedly took place over several months, from November 2008 through May 2009. If you used your debit or credit card during that timeframe at a Radisson Hotel location, it is possible that they could be compromised.

A: No, at this time we do not have plans to re-issue cards which may be affected by this breach. Rather, TD Bank will continue to employ sophisticated systems and procedures to help safeguard your transactions.
