TD Bank is now Carbon Neutral
New net-zero energy TD Bank store. Opening 2011, Fort Lauderdale, FL

By reducing waste, using alternative energy and building environmentally-friendly buildings, TD Bank is the largest U.S.-based bank to achieve carbon neutrality, which means our energy saving practices reduce the energy we use and we invest in green energy and carbon offsets to become carbon neutral.

We will save energy every day.

In 2010, TD Bank made further advances in its green initiative, including:

  • opening our first green prototype store, in Queens Village, NY, targeting the highest level of LEED certification, LEED Platinum
  • making significant investments in renewable power, including wind, solar and low-impact hydro power
  • purchasing renewable energy credits to meet 100 percent of the bank's electricity needs
  • receiving a 2010 Green Power Partner Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
  • purchasing a block of wind energy large enough to power all of our ATMs from Maine to Florida

First net-zero energy buildingPlus, TD Bank is proud to announce the construction of the first net-zero energy bank location in the United States – producing at least as much renewable power as the total energy it uses – in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. The vast majority of new TD Bank stores constructed in 2011 will be LEED certified and all stores thereafter.

We also help our Customers save energy.

  • Online banking is convenient, saves time and creates less gasoline carbon emissions.
  • Online statements reduce paper, save trees and mean less trash in landfills – and they earn our customers a $1 discount on their checking account maintenance fees.
  • Many TD stores are near public transportation, which is an environmentally friendly way to bank with us.
