You can use Microsoft Wallet in-stores wherever you see either one of these logos:

microsoft wallet icon  TD microsoft icon

Some stores might have this symbol on their card readers and point of sale terminals, but they might not be currently set up to accept contactless payments including Microsoft Wallet.

Expand How do I make an in-store purchase with Microsoft Wallet?

When you are ready to pay:
  • Hold your locked device near the contactless payment terminal and the unlock screen will display, or hold your unlocked device near the contactless terminal and you will be prompted to enter your PIN.
  • Enter your PIN, if the device is not already unlocked.
  • Hold your device near the terminal again to pay.
  • You will receive confirmation on your device that the transaction was completed.

Expand Will I have to sign a receipt or enter my ATM PIN when paying with Microsoft Wallet?

It depends on the merchant. In some cases you may need to sign a receipt or enter your ATM PIN - just as you would with your plastic TD Bank Visa card. If asked to verify the last four digits of your card number when making a purchase, instead provide the last four digits of the device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the card in Microsoft Wallet and tapping information icon to go to the about screen.

Expand Will I continue to earn rewards and benefits from my TD Bank Visa Cards when I pay using Microsoft Wallet?

Yes. If your TD Bank Visa Card earns points or rewards for eligible transactions, you'll continue to earn the same points and/or rewards for eligible transactions when you pay using that card in Microsoft Wallet.

Expand Does Microsoft Wallet show my recent transactions?

Certain transactions, including recent purchases may be available in the Card Details screen. To see the details screen open the Microsoft Wallet app and tap the card you would like to review.

In the case of any conflict, your TD Bank account statement is the true source for transaction details.

Expand Why is my transaction sometimes reported differently in Microsoft Wallet?

Occasionally only initial authorization amounts will be passed to Microsoft Wallet, which might be different from the final transaction amount. As a result, you might see different transaction amounts from locations such as restaurants, gas service stations, hotels, and car rental companies. Always refer to your TD Bank account statement for final transaction details.

Expand How do I return an item I bought using Microsoft Wallet in a store?

To return something you bought in-store with Microsoft Wallet you will need your store receipt, just like you would for any other purchase. If the merchant asks you to swipe your card, simply select the card you used to pay within the Microsoft Wallet app and hold your device to the contactless payment terminal.

For some returns, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the card in Microsoft Wallet and tapping information iconto go to the about screen.

Depending on the return and refund policies of the store, it may take several days for the return transaction to appear on your TD Bank Visa Card statement. We recommend keeping your receipt until the return posts to your account.

Expand How does Microsoft Wallet keep my information private?

Your full details are never stored on your device or shared with merchants when you buy something; they see your device account number instead.

When you set up Microsoft Wallet, you'll have to set a PIN for your device if you don't already have one.

Please also refer to Microsoft's and Microsoft Wallet's agreements and disclosures relating to how it uses your private information. Learn more about Microsoft Wallet security and privacy on the Microsoft Wallet website.

Expand What should I do if my Windows device is lost or stolen?

Whenever your device is unlocked, it could be used to make purchases with Microsoft Wallet.

If you lose your Microsoft Wallet-enabled Windows device, you can contact TD Bank Customer Service to delete your TD Bank Visa cards in the device.

  • For Personal and Small Business TD Bank Visa Debit Cards: 888-937-0005
  • For Personal and Small Business TD Bank Visa Credit Cards: 866-606-7470
  • For TD Bank Visa Reloadable Prepaid Cards:
    • TD Connect Visa Prepaid Card: 1-888-568-7130
    • TD Go Visa Prepaid Card: 1-855-219-8050
Since Microsoft Wallet doesn't store your plastic card details on your device, anyone who finds or steals your device won't be able to access that information, even if it's unlocked.

When you suspend or remove your cards in Microsoft Wallet, only your device-specific device account number is suspended or removed, and you can continue to use your plastic cards normally, as long as you didn't deactivate them.

Expand Can I continue to use my plastic TD Bank Visa Cards if I suspend or remove those cards in Microsoft Wallet?

When you suspend or remove your cards in Microsoft Wallet, only your device-specific device account number is suspended or removed.

Your plastic card numbers are not saved on the device, and you can continue to use your plastic cards normally, as long as you didn't deactivate them.

Expand What should I do when I receive a replacement card?

When you receive a replacement TD Bank Visa Card, TD Bank will not automatically update your device account number within Microsoft Wallet with your new card information. You can contact TD Bank Customer Service to update the current device account number on your device with your new TD Bank Visa Card information.

  • For Personal and Small Business TD Bank Visa Debit Cards: 888-937-0005
  • For Personal and Small Business TD Bank Visa Credit Cards: 866-606-7470
  • For TD Bank Visa Reloadable Prepaid Cards:
    • TD Connect Visa Prepaid Card: 1-888-568-7130
    • TD Go Visa Prepaid Card: 1-855-219-8050
Alternatively, you can delete your old TD Bank Visa Card from your device and add the replacement card, which will create a new device account number.

Expand What is a digital account number or device account number?

All your payment cards stored in Microsoft Wallet are assigned a device account number. This number is used instead of your actual card number when you make a purchase with Microsoft Wallet, so that your payment info isn't shared with the merchant.

If you ever need to make a return, you might have to provide the last 4 digits of your device account number. The device account number can be found by selecting the card in Microsoft Wallet and tapping information icon to go to the about screen.
