When you open a TD Bank Checking account, you can select one or more overdraft services.
Savings Overdraft Protection
Savings Overdraft Protection lets you link your savings or money market account to your checking account to help protect against overdrawing. If your checking account becomes overdrawn, and you have sufficient funds available in your savings or money market accounts, the funds will be automatically transferred to your checking account. This ensures your payments are made, and it saves you overdraft charges. No credit approval is required. In the event an automatic transfer is made to cover a checking account overdraft, a nominal fee will be charged.
How to set it up: To open a savings or money market account and activate savings overdraft protection, visit your local TD Bank store.
TD Moneyline Overdraft Protection
TD Moneyline Overdraft Protection is a service that automatically transfers available funds from your TD Moneyline unsecured line of credit to help prevent checking account overdrafts. You can draw up to your available credit limit. Plus, you may avoid overdraft fees for returned checks or insufficient funds. Interest is charged only when you use your line of credit.
How to set it up: Opening a line of credit for overdraft protection requires that you fill out a loan application.1 To apply, you must have a current TD Checking account, request a minimum of $500 (up to a maximum of $5,000) with credit approval, and apply with any other holders of your checking account.
TD Debit Card Advance
TD Debit Card Advance is an optional overdraft service we offer with our personal checking accounts that may help you avoid debit card declines. Once you enroll, you can continue to use your debit card as usual. We may authorize ATM transactions or one-time debit card purchases even if you don't have enough money available in your account. Overdrafts will be paid at our discretion.
Fees may apply, read Important Details below.
How to set it up: Enroll online, by phone or in person.
At TD Bank, there's always someone to talk to about your account. Call us or come in today.
By enrolling in TD Debit Card Advance, you authorize us to permit ATM transactions and one-time debit card purchases to overdraw your account. A $35 fee applies to each transaction presented to us for payment that results in your available account balance being, or remaining, overdrawn by more than $5, whether that transaction is made by debit card, check, in-person withdrawal, or other electronic means. You are obligated to pay overdrafts immediately. A one-time $20 sustained overdraft fee is charged when your account balance remains negative for 10 consecutive business days. Whether an overdraft will be paid is our discretion, and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, you are not making regular deposits, or you repeatedly overdraft. TD Debit Card Advance is different from other forms of overdraft coverage in that it does not transfer funds from an approved line of credit, savings account, or home equity line of credit. The order in which transactions are processed may affect the total amount of overdraft fees incurred. For more information see the Personal Deposit Account Agreement.
