Time Order Processing FAQs

Why did TD Bank make this change?

Time Order Processing is a straight forward approach to processing transactions and will help you more easily manage your personal account(s).

How does processing order affect my account?

Processing order is the way we debit or credit transactions on your account. This determines if items are paid or returned and how many overdraft fees you may incur.

How does the Bank process transactions today and what is Time Order Processing?

As of April 25th, credits and debits (including pending transactions) on Personal Checking, Private Banking Checking, and Money Market Accounts with check access are processed in chronological order based on the date and time you initiate the transaction. However, checks you write that are cashed or deposited at another bank are processed at the end of the business day. Deposits no longer process first.

What happens if multiple transactions have the same date and time information?

If multiple transactions have the same date and time information, they will be processed in the following order:

  • Credits
  • Checks - from lowest to highest check number
  • Other debits - from lowest to highest dollar amount

Do transactions reflect the time based on the time zone in which they were initiated?

No. All transactions are based on Eastern Time regardless of the time zone in which they were initiated.
