I am looking at opening the TD Premier Checking account. My questions are:
1. Can I open this online?
2. As a Canadian opening this account & a TD Canada Trust client will I require to file any tax related documents with the US IRS annually... or any US govt' paperwork?
3. My daughter lives close to several of the TD Bank branches in NY & she is coming to visit me next week... can she pick up my TD Bank debit/VISA card from a locale NY branch & bring it to me as I am situated in Mexico for several months but would like to begin using this account?

Great having you here on TD Helps, Bev and thanks for your interest in banking cross-border with us! We'll be happy to discuss your questions.
First, as a Canadian resident, you'll be happy to learn that you're eligible to open a TD Bank US deposit account of your choosing, and you have the option to open your account online. Please click here: http://bit.ly/1ishIab to begin an application for an account with TD Bank in the US. If you have been considering the Premier Checking but are still undecided, our Checking Account options are listed here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF, or use our Checking Account Selector at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU. And our Savings products are listed here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector Tool at http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd if you may be interested in a Savings account as well.
If you prefer, you're welcome to call our Cross Border Banking Team at 877-700-2913 Option 2, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for assistance in opening the account by phone, or for any service you may need. During your call, our Specialists will be able to advise you of any other related documentation you may need to complete for your account. Kindly note that if you open any interest-bearing account, if $10.00 or more is earned in a single tax year this will be reported to the U.S. IRS as income via the 1099-INT form. We recommend reaching out to an accountant or tax specialist on details of how and if this may affect you.
To deposit funds, several convenient options will be provided at the time you open the account. You're welcome to mail in a deposit, or visit any TD Bank US Store if you're in our area. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores to find one of our locations. Otherwise, if you open an account by phone and you have an existing account with TD Canada Trust, you're more than welcome to initiate a free Wire Transfer from your existing TD Canada Trust account to your new TD Bank US account as your initial deposit.
Please keep in mind that if you request one, your Visa Debit or ATM card will be mailed to the Canadian legal address that you provide during the application process. We apologize as we're not able to provide the card to anyone except the account owner.
Hope this covers it for you, Bev! Thanks again for choosing TD and we look forward to our continued business together!
