Great question, Mike! We'd be glad to discuss Bill Pay.
When Bill Pay issues a physical check, these funds are not debited from your account until the biller negotiates the item.
Since you've mentioned that the check was returned to your address, these funds should not have been debited from your account and all you'd have to do is securely destroy the check if it is no longer needed.
