I tried to pay my American Express credit card using my checking account number and TD routing number but the payment was rejected twice. How do I pay this bill? Do I have to use Bill Pay or can I just use the account & routing number? I don't want auto payments.

We're sorry to hear that you were having trouble making a payment, Caroline, and we'd be glad to help.
If the payment you've mentioned was rejected by the merchant, we recommend first reaching them directly to determine why the payment was not accepted on their end. Often times, rejected payments are due to the incorrect entry of account information.
Once you've determined why the payment was rejected, you're more than welcome to schedule the payment with the merchant directly.
If you'd like to make a payment using Bill Pay, you can do so anytime by signing in here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq. After you log in, you can direct Online Banking to the Bill Pay tab. If you've already created the merchant as a biller, you're able to select them in the Payment Center and follow the prompts to schedule a payment. Keep in mind that payments are only recurring unless you specify that you'd like them to be.
If you haven't created this biller using Bill Pay at this time, select Add a Company or Person to pay.
If you have any questions about your TD account specifically, feel free to reach out to us 24/7 at 888-751-9000.
We hope this helps, Caroline. Have a good day!
