I'm an 18 year old student with $5000 in cash who is going to be traveling in 10 days.
Since I don't want to have all that cash on me I want to open a bank account and use a debit card.
Is TD student account right for me?
Also will there foreign transaction fees since I will be traveling with this card.

Thank you for considering an account with TD, Natan!
We offer many different types of Checking accounts. Prior to opening an account we encourage you to view and compare our checking accounts, visit http://bit.ly/Wczmq0 or check out our Checking Selector Toolhttp://bit.ly/1vW1xnU for help selecting a checking account that is the best fit you.
There are several ways to open an account with us: online, over the phone, or in person. The documents that you will need to open the account are the following: Your Social Security number and ID (driver's license, State ID, or Passport).
If you are currently a full time college student and are under 24 years old, you may wish to click here: http://bit.ly/1gcgwnr and you may find out that our Student Checking account may fit your needs best as there are so many benefits we currently offer, for example:
· No monthly maintenance fee or minimum daily balance requirement
· No monthly maintenance fee on a TD Simple Savings account linked to a TD Student Checking account
To open a Checking account, you may apply Online by visiting www.tdbank.com or click here: http://bit.ly/1fN7u4i to take you directly to the account opening application. To open the account over the phone, you may call us directly 24/7 at 888-751-9000 and you will have up to 30 business days to make your initial deposit. Finally, you have the option of visiting us at your local TD Store to open an account. If you choose this option, you will need to make an initial deposit to the account you selected. There would not be a minimum requirement to open the account; however, some accounts have requirements in order to have certain fees waived. We would encourage you to review the link above prior to visiting a Store. For hours and locations near you, take a look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you do decide to open an account with us, we recommend contacting us directly shortly after the account opening process as you've mentioned that you're planning on traveling. You may do so by using the 24/7 number mentioned above or by visiting a TD Store during lobby hours. Our Representatives will be able to place a Travel Notification on your account to help prevent interruptions in your debit card usage.
Our TD Visa Debit Cards are accepted anywhere Visa is worldwide. There are no additional fees for using your card while traveling however if you plan on making withdrawals from non-TD ATMs there may be fees applied based upon the account type you plan on opening. We invite you to take a look at our Fee Schedule found here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
We hope this helps, Natan and have a good day.
