I.e., do limits apply when the tranfer is initiated by the external institution? (The other institution has much higher limits)

Hi David, it`s great seeing you here at TD Helps today! We are happy to answer your questions on External Transfers.
TD Bank does have limits on the amount transferrable for External Transfers for our Customers' protection as well as our own. Please note, any limits imposed would only apply to transfers initiated here at TD Bank, and not transfers initiated by another financial institution.
If you are looking to transfer funds from your TD account to another account of yours with another financial institution, you may use the External Transfer feature via your Online Banking. To use this feature you must be enrolled in Online Banking. If you have an ATM/Debit Card and Social Security number you may fill out the online application to access your personal account(s). Please visit http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY to enroll for TD Bank Online Banking. Once there, you will need to choose Personal from the drop down box. Signing up for TD Bank Online is quick and easy – allowing you to view your accounts in just three simple steps! First, you'll have to accept the Online Banking Agreement. Then, we'll ask you to enter in your personal information (Name, Social Security number, account number, etc.) and finally, you will have to set up three security questions. After those 3 steps are completed, you will have immediate access to your account(s) online.
Once you've logged in, to send an external transfer, please select the "Transfer" tab and click on the "Transfer to Accounts Outside TD Bank". You will need to input the account information you have located with another institution by clicking on the "Add a New Account" link.
If you are looking to transfer funds from your TD Account to family or friend, you may use the Person-to-Person feature. This feature is located under the "Person-to-Person Payments" tab via your Online Banking. To add contacts to your list, please click on the "Contacts" link located beneath the "PopMoney" word.
For the information on limits regarding this service, please check out this link: http://bit.ly/1pADlWD (page 3, section 1.16). Generally, all customers are supplied with our standard limits for this service. Usually, if you have no insufficient funds occurrences for 90 days (rolling), the limit is increased to our higher limit automatically at the discretion of the bank. Your individual transaction limits are available once you log in to your TD Bank account online; please log in here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and refer to the Transfers tab. Click on the information icon to the right of the amount box when entering this information for a transfer to find the limits for your account.
If you find you have any questions about our Transfer service, you're more than welcome to contact a Tech Support Specialist 24/7 at 800-493-7562, or stop in at any nearby TD Bank Store by finding a location here: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you have a transfer being initiated from another Financial Institution, we recommend contacting them for more information.
We hope this helps, David. Enjoy the rest of your week!
