We appreciate you bringing your concerns to TD Helps today, Liz.
We'll be more than happy to help you and your daughter prepare for her trip to France!
While TD Bank does not have any locations outside of the United States, we're happy to let you know that your daughter will still be able to use her TD Bank VISA Debit Card to make purchases, as well as withdrawals, in France! Both TD Bank and VISA do not assess any foreign transactions fees; however, depending on your daughters account, some non-TD ATM fees may still apply.
When traveling overseas, your daughter should be able to make ATM withdrawals from any ATMs that display the MasterCard, Cirrus, VISA, or PLUS logo, and as fees may apply when doing so, you're more than welcome to take a look at our Fee Schedule here: https://go.td.com/2lbbfGg. Additionally, your daughter may also may be assessed an additional fee (surcharge), which may be set by the machine owner, and is not associated with TD Bank.
Before your daughter leaves for her trip, we'd like to recommend that she have a travel notification placed on her card to avoid any acceptance issues. When looking to place a travel note, your daughter has a couple different options available to her, and we'll be happy to review them all so that she may choose the one that is most convenient for her.
First, she may notify us by simply sending a Secure Message through her online banking. To send a secure message, your daughter will first want to log into her TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once she's successfully logged in, she'll need to look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side, and select 'Send a secure message'. If she has downloaded our mobile banking app for her smartphone, she may also use this method to send a secure message. From her Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
In addition to sending a secure message, she may also contact our 24/7 Customer Service line at 888-751-9000 to have a Banking Specialist place a travel notification on her account, or she may even do so in person at a local TD Bank Store during lobby hours. To find her nearest TD Store location, she's welcome to use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
If you or your daughter would like, we have provided a link here: https://go.td.com/1fO8wKy that includes a few tips to help your daughter manage her money when traveling overseas, as well as another link here: https://go.td.com/1ltwDDc that reviews our International Travel Tips Frequently Asked Questions.
In the event that your daughter needs to connect with us while traveling in Europe, she may do so by dialing 856-751-9000, 24/7, or also collect with operator's assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 215-569-0518.
We hope your daughter has fun on her trip to France, Liz, and please don't hesitate to let us know if we can answer any additional questions or concerns.
Take care, and have a great weekend and a happy new year.
