Just opened a TD checking account (Premier, Cross Border) and would like to mail a check from my other Canadian bank (not TD Canada Trust) to be deposited to my new TD account. On your website, under the Bank by Mail, there is a PO box address that starts with ME2-001-033. When I phoned in earlier to talk to a TD representative, I was given the PO box address that starts with ME2-074-017 for that purpose. I'm now confused, which address is better to use for this?
Also, how long would it take (approximately) to have that check cleared and in my account?
Are there any online alternatives to do this (transfer money from one of my banks to TD)?

Thank you for opening a new account with us, Lana.
Our current Bank By Mail address is:
TD Bank, N.A.
P.O. Box Number 1190
Lewiston, ME 04243
Please know that this P.O. Box is picked up daily. It normally takes approximately 7-10 business days for the checks to be delivered, and it may take longer when sending checks from outside the United States. We also invite you to look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ. On pages 38-41 you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with information about when you'll have access to deposits, including checks drawn on Non-U.S. Financial Institutions.
Another option would be international wire transfer. If you're interested, we have included the instructions here:
In order to send an international wire transfer already in U.S. currency, you should provide the following information to the financial institution in Canada:
Wire to: TD Bank, N.A. Wilmington, Delaware, ABA: 0311-0126-6, Your complete name as it appears on Your TD account, along with your TD account number.
For international wire transfer in U.S. currency, if the financial institution sending the wire transfer to TD Bank is unable to accept the ABA/Routing number for an international transfer and they are requiring you to provide a BIC/SWIFT code in order to send a transfer (already in U.S. currency) into your account, then they should use the following information instead:
Wire to (Beneficiary Bank): TD Bank, N.A. BIC/Swift Code: NRTHUS33XXX Bank Address: TD BANK, N.A. 6000 Atrium Way Mount Laurel, NJ 08054, USA
In Favor of: Beneficiary Account Number: Your full TD Bank account number Beneficiary Full Name: Your full name as we have it listed on the account Beneficiary Address: The address we have listed on Your TD Bank account
Keep in mind the above instructions are for or international wire transfer in U.S. Currency only – if this international wire is being sent in foreign currency you must instead use the following information:
Wire to: The Toronto-Dominion Bank Swift Code: TDOMCATTTOR Bank Address: The Toronto-Dominion Bank, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5K 1A2
For Further Credit to (Beneficiary Bank): TD Bank, N.A. Swift code: NRTHUS33XXX Beneficiary Bank Address: TD BANK, N.A. 6000 Atrium Way Mount Laurel, NJ 08054, USA
In Favor of: Beneficiary Account Number: Your full TD Bank account number Beneficiary Full Name: Your full name as we have it listed on the account Beneficiary Address: Your address exactly as it appears on the account
Additionally, we strongly recommend connecting with the financial institution sending the wire transfer to determine if they require you to provide an ABA#/Routing#, or a BIC/SWIFT Code to complete the transfer.
Please know that we do not process incoming Pay Upon Proper Identification (PUPID) wires and they will be returned to the sender. When sending or receiving a wire transfer, fees may apply regardless of the currency sent. For a full list of current fees including wire transfers, please review our most current Personal Fee Schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
Thank you again for choosing TD Bank, Lana. Have a wonderful day!

Thank you, LiShu, for a very detailed and to the point response. Was also reading about HyperWallet my Canadian bank (Coast Capital) has listed as one of the options to safely transfer money internationally. In my case, this would be CAD to USD. It appears there are a few options, just have to figure out the safest, fastest and least costly one :-)
One other issue I have is not being able to enroll into TD Bank online banking, or not yet. Two things: Social Security Number which I as a Canadian don't have or don't know that I have (I have a Social Insurance Number but that doesn't seem to be the same thing). Second, ATM bank card for which I have to wait approx. 2 weeks. I would like to be able to access my TD Bank acct online in order to add this new bank acct. to my PayPal (am not able to see those small amounts they send to verify the bank acct without online access to my TD acct) A very helpful TD rep told me, when I asked to be enrolled before the debit card arrives, it would be best to do that when I have some money transferred to my account. Which basically means I can't have online access until I send cheque/transfer money from another bank.

Thank you for getting back to us, Lana.
If you're also a Customer of TD Canada Trust, you may simply transfer some funds from your TD Canada Trust account to your new TD Bank N.A. account over the telephone by dialing TD Cross Border Banking Support Line at (877) 700-2913 (press 1 for English, 2 for French) and this service is available to both U.S. and Canadian Customers 24/7. Upon proper verification, you will be able to request cross border transfers at free of charge.
Once your transfer is received by us, here in the U.S., you may then contact our 24/7 Banking Specialists at 888-751-9000 to be enrolled for online banking via telephone, upon proper verification.
Hope this helps, Lana. Please do not hesitate to write back with any additional questions you may have. Have a great afternoon!
