Thank you for visiting us on TD Helps with your inquiry, Paul. We are happy to respond.
When depositing a certified check, please know that funds from the first $5,000 of a day’s total deposits of cashier’s, certified, teller’s, traveler’s, and federal, state, and local government checks will be available on the first Business Day after the day of your deposit. The excess over $5,000 and funds from all other check deposits will be available no later than the seventh (7th) Business Day after the day of your deposit.
Please keep in mind, if you make a deposit at TD Bank before 8:00 PM on a business day, it would be considered a deposit on that business day. A business day is every day except Saturdays, Sundays, and federal holidays. For weekend deposits, this usually means that the deposit will be considered Monday's deposit and will post to your account Tuesday. Anytime a Federal Holiday falls on a Monday, the deposit will post to your account on Wednesday morning.
We invite you to look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ, which can explain our deposit availability policy in full detail for you. Please take note of pages 40-41, where you can find our Funds Availability Policy specifically the Special Rules for certified checks along with information about when you'll have access to deposits.
You may also feel free to contact us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or visit your local TD Bank Store for any additional assistance. For help locating a TD Store near you, check out: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We hope this information helps, Paul. Enjoy the rest of your day!
