Great to have you here with us on TD Helps, Joseph! You've asked a great question that we're sure many people have wondered about for their teen.
First, we'd like to let you know that Visa Debit cards can be issued with checking accounts only. If your son does have a checking account with us already, both of you may visit your local TD Store regarding a debit card for him. If he currently has a savings account, kindly note the options below that are available to him to begin using a card with a Visa logo, as our savings accounts can be linked to ATM cards only.
Individuals under the age of 18 may open a joint Checking account with their parent or legal Guardian when both of you visit any TD Bank Store. For a listing of TD Bank locations, please look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores. If you sign as a joint account owner with your son, you can allow him to receive a TD Visa Debit card, if you wish.
Please keep in mind that a valid form of identification such as a State License, State ID, Military ID or Passport will be needed by the parent or guardian to be listed on the account. Acceptable forms of identification for minors include a School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security card. Joint accounts may only be opened at a TD Bank location.
Here at TD Bank, we offer a wide array of accounts and we invite you to visit the below links for more information. Feel free to check out: http://bit.ly/1gAWlhY to view our Checking Selector and visit http://bit.ly/UbFOwS for the different types of checking accounts TD Bank offers.
