I live in France but have a TD bank account in the US. This account is now dormant, but I need to reactivate it to be able to make a transfer from my TD Bank account to my french account. It seems that the only way to reactivate an account is by going to the bank to make a deposit or to mail a ckeck from france to TD bank. Living in France, I obviously cannot go to a TD Bank location. So I'd like to know if a friend of mine living in the states can go to a TD Bank location and make a deposit on my account. And if not, will a check for some euros coming from my french bank work ?
Thank you for your help.

Thanks for writing in today, Emmanuelle. We'll be glad to provide you more information regarding a dormant account.
Once an account is in dormant status, to bring it back to an active status, the transaction must be evidenced by your signature. With that being said, it would be recommended to mail in your deposit from France. Your friend wouldn't be able to make the deposit due to the status of the account. You can send a check in euros to change the status of your account. Please note the check must be equivalent to $100 U.S. Dollars or more. You may mail your deposit to:
TD Bank, N.A. ME2-001-033, P.O. Box Number 1190, Lewiston, ME 04243
Like any other deposits, a few simple guidelines apply:
Cash should not be sent through the mail
Payee of the check and name on deposit ticket should be the same
Checks should be endorsed (and restricted for deposit only)
Multiple checks should be listed and a total of the deposit listed
Enclose the deposit ticket (if available), not the carbon copy
If using a blank deposit ticket, please write account number clearly
Do not staple transactions
Please also include a note that states you're looking to change the status of your account from dormant to active.
Since you mentioned that you're looking to complete a transfer our of your TD account once the account is active, we recommend contacting our Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000 for all available options.
We hope this helps and take care!
