Thanks for writing in and we hope you're having a fantastic time in Italy right now!
We're sure you want to be able to keep track of your money while you're there. We do have a few options and some other info for you.
First, if your account is currently enrolled for Online Banking, you would be able to view your balance online. After you log into your account here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq, you can click on the “Accounts” tab at the top of the page, and then click on the name of the account you want to view. Then you'll be able to see your current balance there.
If you're not currently enrolled and would like to take advantage of this free service, you can get started here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You'll need your account number, ATM/Debit card number and Social Security number available to complete the enrollment. The page will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to complete the process.
You can also access up-to-the-minute account information by calling using our automated banking system (IVR) or contacting our dedicated Banking Specialists 24/7. Seeing that you're in Italy right now, you can get in touch with us from outside the United States via phone at 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518.
Additionally, although you are able to check your balance at a local ATM, we would first recommend using the options above instead as each withdrawal, transfer, and balance inquiry made at an ATM not owned by TD is subject to a $3.00 fee at this time, which is charged by TD Bank the same day the transaction is made (subject to change). You can check out our current Fee Schedule at: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt to confirm this info. This may be in addition to any fee assessed by the owner of the ATM or network, and may include fees for both withdrawals and balance inquiries. In addition, the balance provided to you at a foreign ATM may or may not be provided in U.S. Dollars.
If you need to get in touch with us, Noah, and you're not able to call us as we mentioned previously, you can also send us a Secure Message from within your Online Banking account. To do so, please log in at the first link provided above. Once you have done so, locate the Customer Service tab at the top right, and then click on Send a Message. Please submit your inquiry and a friendly Specialist will respond shortly. Although we don't recommend checking your balance this way, it's useful if you'd like to correspond with us for any account needs without using a phone.
