You have asked a very good question, Jerry. We're happy to respond here on TD Helps.
Please kindly keep in mind that third party checks must be deposited with a TD Bank teller and cannot be made via the ATM or Mobile Deposit. To find out TD Store locations near you, please visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores. Also, an Endorsement Authorization & Release Form must be completed at the time of the deposit. To learn more about our Mobile Deposit, we invite you to take a look here: http://bit.ly/1e3jiYF.
Please also know that government or insurance checks can only be presented for payment to the person listed on the "Payable to" line of the check, and for a check with two payees, these types of checks can only be deposited into a joint account naming both parties.
If you need additional assistance, we recommend contacting our Banking Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000. You may also feel free to visit your local TD Bank Store for further assistance.
Thanks again for submitting your question here, Jerry. Have a great day!

If I have written a check to someone on my account, and then they endorse it because I gave them cash instead, can I deposit that check back into my account if they endorse it?

Good morning, and thanks for joining in on the conversation today, Janice.
We'll be happy to clear up any confusion!
When providing a check to someone, it's important to note that the funds will not be debited from your account until the check is presented for payment at a financial institution. As you mentioned that you provided your payee with a check, but now have that check back in your possession, you may simply void this check as the funds should not have been debited from your account.
If you have any additional questions, or if you'd prefer to go over your concerns with one of our Specialist, you're more than welcome to do so! Banking Specialists can be reached by simply dialing 1-888-751-9000, and for your convenience, are here to help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You would also, as always, have the option of visiting your nearest TD Store location to speak with a Customer Service Representative, during lobby hours. To take a look at Store locations and their hours, please visit http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
If you're unable to call or visit a Store location, please don't worry, as you may send us a secure message. To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'.
If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
We sincerely hope this clears up any confusion, Janice, and thanks again for stopping by.
Have a great weekend!
