I bought a car from a private party who had a lien on the car but he paid off & gave me just a xerox copy of the lien release paper which is not accepted by DMV. They want a original copy of the Lien release paper. Can I get that paper for the previous owner from the bank if I can show that I own the vehicle now?

The loan on the car is not on my name but with the previous owner of the car who sold me his car. Now I want to get a letter just stating that TD Bank doesn't have any loan on this car which I believe you can verify by the car details if I provide you. Can that be done?

Thanks for reaching back out, Rahul. We'd be glad to clarify.
As Brian mentioned above, you are able to fax this request to our Consumer Release Department. Please know that this request does not need to be sent by the original lender. Be sure to include your best contact number just in case our Representatives need to contact you. If you would like to include your full address in order to receive a physical copy in the mail, feel free to do so.
