When I got my first paycheck I decided to open an account at TD Bank. Since I am a minor, I was accompanied by my mom. I was made a Simple Savings account and given an ATM card that was under my mom's name, but was disappointed to find out I couldn't use the card to buy anything, I would have to go to an ATM and withdraw. Then I asked some of my friends that also had jobs what they had and they told me that they had Student Checking accounts that allowed them to use their cards and it was also under their name besides the parents'. I was just wondering if there was anyway I could maybe sign up for a Student Checking and still have the savings account I opened or would I have to close it?
