I've read a lot about credit card scams, hacks, and general security issues internationally and I'm wondering if I could get an additional debit card to take/use while I'm out of the country so that I would have the ability to cancel it without severely limiting access to my account with my main/existing debit card.

Hi there Josh,
Excellent question and this is a great idea you have.
You have a few options if you're interested in having an extra card for use while traveling.
To have an additional Visa Debit card that would be the same as the one you currently have, this would require a new, separate account from your existing one. Feel free to take a look at our Checking account offering here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF to see if another type would suit you better for your second account, or you can simply choose to open another of the same type of account you currently have and request a card for it. Feel free to call us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 with any questions, or to get one started. You can also open one up online on the pages provided above, or at any of our Stores: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
As another idea for while you're traveling, feel free to take a look at any of our prepaid card options. They're available for you to check out right here: http://bit.ly/1OPqOex and you can compare their various features to determine if one of these might work for you as well.
Other than that, you could also simply consider a TD Visa Credit card and our current credit products are here: http://bit.ly/1qRnByN. For any questions about our credit cards or to apply, you can reach our Specialists 24/7 at 888-561-8861.
We hope these suggestions are helpful, Josh!
Please feel free to reply if you find you have more questions about any of these.
Enjoy the rest of your holiday!
