Thanks for reaching out to us on TD Helps, George. We'd be glad to discuss.
Each signer on an account may have one ATM or Debit Card in their name to access that account. If you are the only authorized signer, then you could only have one Debit Card for your account; if there are multiple signers though, each one could have their own Debit Card to access the account.
If you have multiple Checking Accounts with us, you may have a Debit Card in your name for each account. Each card must have one Primary Account that will be used to make purchases or payments, but could then have up to 4 more additional Checking Accounts linked to it for ATM transactions. These are considered Secondary Accounts. In this case, you could access the same Checking Account from multiple cards (but remember this would only be for ATM use, not for purchases). This option could be helpful if you don't want to carry around both cards with you at the same time.
As you mentioned that you would like your sister to have access to your account in order to pay rent, you would be able to add her as a signer by visiting any TD Store during lobby hours. To take a look at TD Stores near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Please be sure that both of you bring a valid photo I.D. for your visit (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.).
You are also able to send your rent payments via Online Banking and Bill Pay! In order to use Bill Pay, you must first need to be enrolled in Online Banking. If you are not signed up already, please visit here: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. Keep in mind that you will need your account number, ATM/Visa Debit Card number, Social Security Number and email address.
If you have any trouble signing up, feel free to visit us during lobby hours at any TD Store or call us 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000.
Once you are logged in, you will need to enroll for Bill Pay. To enroll, please select the "Bill Pay' tab, you will then be asked to accept the Bill Pay user agreement. Once accepted, you can then immediately begin scheduling your bills!
You may also be able to send your landlord rent via Person-to-Person Payments via Online Banking as well. You are able to send and receive money to and from any other individual's bank account within the United States.
In order to be eligible to use the Person-to-Person payment service, you must have a United States address, a unique United States phone number, a United States issued Social Security number and a valid unique email address. You must also be enrolled for Online Banking and be using a TD Bank Checking or Money Market account for the transfer. Please also note that Person-to-Person payment will only allow you to transfer funds from your TD Bank Account to any other individual's bank account within the United States.
If you have met all the requirements listed above and are also enrolled for online banking, you’ll need to be logged in to Online Banking from here http://bit.ly/1eaISlq in order to initiate a Person-to-Person payment:
- First, you must enroll in the service. To do so, you would select the tab that says Person-to-Person payments at the top of your Online Banking screen.
- Then, you will be asked to accept a user agreement, review the fee schedule and confirm your email and phone number. A text and email code will be sent to the mobile number and email address we have on file for you.
- Next we will request you to submit both codes for verification to complete the enrollment process.
You will have two delivery options when sending a Person-to-Person payment; there is the three business day option and the next business day delivery. Please note, the next day delivery option is not available for savings accounts. To qualify for the next day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful 3-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days.
If you need any help with Bill Pay or Person-to-Person Payments, feel free to reach out to our Tech Support Specialists 24/7 by dialing 800-493-7562.
We hope you find this information helpful, George and best of luck in class!
