Thanks for considering TD for your banking needs, Mario! It's our pleasure to let you know how you may open an account with us.
Since you mentioned having a Social Security number, Mario, and we notice that you're writing in from Cape Town, you'll be more than welcome to establish an account with us either online or via phone. Please note that you'll also need a valid U.S. address and a valid Passport for identification purposes. If you'd like to open your account online, your U.S. address will need to be within the TD Bank footprint (states on the East Coast from Maine to Florida) or, if you have a U.S. address in any other State, we invite you to give us a call to open an account.
We encourage you to review the accounts we have available! Our Checking products are listed here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF, or use our Checking Account Selector at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU. And find our Savings Accounts here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector Tool at http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd.
You may use the ''Open Account'' button at these links to begin your account application online. Or, from outside of the U.S., please call us on 1-856-751-9000, or collect with operator assistance from a land line phone by asking the operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. Once you're speaking with a Representative, they'll be happy to answer any questions you may have and assist with the account-opening process.
If you don't have some of the required information to open the account online or by phone and you'll be visiting the U.S., feel free to stop by any of our Store locations for assistance. Please see: http://bit.ly/TDStores for a listing by location.
Hope this answers your question and we look forward to speaking with you soon, Mario!
