I want to open an checking account in the U.S. I have accounts in Canada and own property there. I was to open an account but live in California where there are no branches.

Thanks for considering TD!
TD Bank is proud to offer store locations from Maine to Florida. However, it is not necessary to live within the TD Bank footprint in order to open an account with us.
If you don't currently live in a State with a TD Bank store, you'll be happy to learn that you can still open an account with us by phone! To do so, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives. They will be more than happy to help you set up your account. Since you mentioned opening an account in New York or New Jersey, you can also establish an account by visiting one of our Stores if you'll be in our area and please find a listing of our Stores at: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Feel free to review the convenient account types we currently offer on our website to find accounts which best suit you. To view and compare our Checking accounts, visit http://bit.ly/1aDaRqd or use our Checking Selector http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU for help selecting a Checking account that is the best fit for you. To view and compare Savings account products, click on http://bit.ly/1pJT9I9 , or if you prefer, we also have a Savings Selector http://bit.ly/1vW1DvM which can help you choose the best savings account for your needs.
If you are able to verify an address within our footprint, you are also welcome to use our website for the account opening process. You can open the account after choosing your account above by clicking on the "Open Account" box, which will be listed at the bottom of each account's details.
With either method, to begin the account application, you'll need your Social Security number and a valid personal identification such as a Driver's license, State ID, or Passport.
Since you mentioned your affiliation with Canada, just in case you are a Canadian citizen living here in the U.S., Theodore, then to establish a U.S. account you can call our Cross Border Banking Team 24/7 at 877-700-2913. If you open an account with us and also bank with our partners at TD Canada Trust, you can take advantage of our Cross-Border options. Feel free to take a look: http://bit.ly/1ienPN4.
We hope this is helpful! Thanks again for choosing us and have a great weekend.
