I am an international student attending an undergraduate program at a university in Philadelphia. I am currently back in my country, but I would like to open a checking account. Are there any ways I can open a checking account outside of the U.S?

Hi Jooa! Thanks for coming to TD Helps with your question.
We're so glad to hear that you're interested in opening an account with us here at TD Bank!
While we offer accounts to non-U.S. Citizens, without a U.S. Social Security Number, you will not be able to open the account while in your home country. Accounts for non-U.S. Citizens must be opened in person at a TD Bank Store, so when you return to school, please stop in to see us. We'd be happy to get your new account opened!
You will need to bring two to three forms of photo ID with you. The first must be a valid non-U.S. passport. The other could be any number of things, including a driver's license, state ID, Government issued Visa with photo and signature, or Student ID. To ensure that you have everything necessary to open your new account, we recommend contacting the Store you intend to visit prior to coming in. A Store representative would be happy to review the documents you currently have to ensure you have all that will be necessary. You can find contact info for any of our Stores by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
In the meantime, we encourage you to check out all of the accounts we're currently offering to get an idea of which accounts might work best for you. We even have a great Account Selector tool that takes into consideration how you intend to use the account to find the right fit for you. You can find that by clicking here: https://go.td.com/2sx4N2E.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or stop in to see us at any of our Stores. If you're still outside of the U.S., you may have some difficulty calling an 888 or 800 phone number. To contact us by phone from outside of the United States, please use country code 011 and call 856-751-9000 or call us collect from a landline with operator assistance at 215-569-0518. We have representatives available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to help.
We wish you continued success at your university in Pennsylvania, Jooa! Take care.
