Good morning and thank you for reaching out to us on TD Helps, Lena. We are happy to help you make sure you have everything you need to open your new account.
To open a business account, you must visit us at any local TD Store and there are a few things you'd need to bring with you. If your business account is going to have multiple signers, be sure to bring them with you for the account opening process. Please note that even if not all of the signers can be present for the account opening process it still can be opened, however the missing signers will not have access to the account until they have physically stepped into a TD Bank Store. To add additional signers to the account at a different time, every signer present at the time of the opening must also be present when adding another person to the account. You also have the option to obtain multiple debit cards which you can provide to the other members until they are added as signers; although this will not allow them to view the account or request information, they will still be able to make transactions.
Those who are going to be signers on the account need to bring the following documents: a valid photo I.D. (Driver's License, Passport, Military I.D. etc.) and Social Security number. For a non-resident alien opening a business account, you will need two valid forms of ID and a W-8Ben must be completed during the account opening process. Also, be sure to bring the Tax Identification Number for your business.
As a non-US Resident, you will need to bring two forms of identification with you. One form of I.D. must be a valid non-US Passport or Visa with photo and the second form of valid ID you may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
As you are looking to open an LLC, there are some additional documents you will need to bring with you. One of the listed documents is required for account opening but you can bring more than one if you desire: The documents used to form and register your business, the fictitious name registration or the Operating Agreement. Additionally, you will also need to bring documentation of your LLC Resolution.
We also suggest reviewing the types of business accounts that TD bank has to offer. If you take a look here, http://go.td.com/1lWgAhe, the link shows the types of business Checking accounts that we offer. Our web page can even make a selection based on your needs with the Business Checking Selector tool: http://go.td.com/1lGeYmw.
