I have a check made out to me by TD Bank in Toronto and there are no locations near me. How can I open an account to deposit this check?

In reply to Paul, Richmond
We appreciate your visit here at TD Helps today, Paul.
Thanks for considering TD Bank, we are happy to provide you with some options for opening an account with us, as well as depositing Canadian funds into your US account.
Generally speaking, in order to deposit a Canadian check into your US account, you would have to do so at one of our TD Store locations. To find our TD Store locations near you, please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Please know that the international check must have an equivalent value of at least $100.00 in USD. Rates used for currency conversion are provided by TD Bank Traders. We do not use rates printed by third parties in newspapers or published online.
The conversion rate applied will be on the day the check is received by our Foreign Check Collection department. Additionally, fees may apply for the deposit of a foreign item. If you'll be depositing the check to a personal account with TD Bank, please take a look at our current Fee Schedule here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt. If you have a small business or commercial account with TD Bank, we recommend reviewing the account agreements provided at the time of the account opening for additional fee information, or speak with a Representative at your local TD Bank Store.
Please note that there are exceptions that may cause delays in funds availability. We invite you to look at our Deposit Account Agreement here for personal accounts: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ. On pages 38-41 you can find our Funds Availability Policy along with the information about when you'll have access to deposits. For foreign check deposit funds availability, please refer directly to page 41 for additional information.
We're happy to inform you that you have several methods to open an account with us, and we'll be glad to let you know how you can open an account online or using any method that is most convenient for you.
The option to open an account with us is available online if you have a US Social Security number and an address within the TD Bank footprint. Sounds like you've already looked around to find an account you like! Just in case you want to make sure, you might like to use our Checking Account Selector tool found here: http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU which can provide your best account option after a few short questions. Otherwise, a full list of our current Checking Accounts can be found here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF.
You may use the Open Account button at these links to begin your account application. To begin, you'll need your Social Security number and a valid personal identification such as a Driver's license, State ID, or Passport. Additionally, if you prefer to open your account online, you can make your first deposit using a debit or credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or the routing and account number from another bank account you may have in the United States. You'll also be able to make your initial deposit at any TD Bank Store if you prefer.
If you'd like to open your account by phone, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives. They will be more than happy to help you establish your account. If you open the account by phone, your representative will be happy to provide convenient deposit options. If you'll be nearby a Store in your travels, you're also welcome to open your new account in person. Please see the above link for Store locations and lobby hours in your area.
We hope this helps, Paul. Have a wonderful week.
