Thanks for your question, Sara. We'd be glad to discuss.
Please know that the easiest way to purchase any monetary instrument is by visiting your local TD Store as the funds would be debited directly from your account.
You are able to purchase money orders and official checks at your local TD Bank during lobby hours by withdrawing funds from your account. To take a look at TD Stores near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores.
Keep in mind that money orders can only be purchased for amounts up to $1000. For the amount you've mentioned, you would need to purchase an official check. During your visit you will also need to provide who the official check will be made out to. There may be fees applied for the purchase of a money order or official check. Take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt for more details.
If you plan on purchasing a money order or official check elsewhere, please know that there are limits in place on your debit card for your account's security. For information on your daily limit amounts, please take a look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (Pages 44-45).
If you review this information and decide that you'll need a higher limit for this payment, we understand and can provide some options to increase the limit. Please note, in order to have your debit card limit increased you must have a deposit account older than 90 days that is in a Normal status. You also must have a sufficient balance to cover the requested amount.
To increase one of the limits on your debit card, you can send us a written request via fax or secure message. You can send the fax to our Fulfillment Team at 856-533-1138, or please log in to your TD Bank online account at http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and use the Send a Message link after clicking the Customer Service tab. With either method, please include the following information:
• Subject: Limit Increase
• Account Number
• Debit/ATM Card Number
• Your Name
• Contact Telephone Number
• A Statement indicating 'Please increase my total daily Visa (or POS or ATM) limit to $X for the day.'
• Your Signature (for the fax option only)
Or, you may also stop by your local TD Bank Store during lobby hours for assistance with a limit increase.
We hope this information helps, Sara and have a good night.
