I know there are services to reduce overdraft costs and to link accounts, but I do not see how to completely limit overdraft fees? Essentially, I'm looking for my card to be declined if it doesn't have enough on the checking.

TD Debit Card Advance is a discretionary overdraft service you can add to your personal Checking account that allows us to approve ATM transactions and one-time debit card purchases, at our discretion, if you don't have enough money available in your account.
This service is optional; therefore, if you do not choose to enroll in TD Debit Card Advance, it is okay! Just simply let us know. We're here to answer all your questions and discuss your options. You can call us 24/7 at 888-751-9000, stop by your local TD Bank location or to log on to your online banking from here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq and change your preference in the Service Center. If you are not currently enrolled for Online Banking and wish to enroll for Online Banking for your personal accounts, you may use our self-service option by visiting http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY to begin the enrollment process. In order to do so, you will need your account number, TD Bank ATM or Debit Card number, your Social Security Number and your email address. Once at the page, please select "Personal" from the drop down box. When you select continue, you will have to read and accept the Online Banking Service Agreement. Then you will be asked to enter your personal information including the items mentioned earlier and to create a user name and password. Finally you will be asked to create three security questions. When you finish the enrollment process, you will have immediate access to your account(s).
If you do not have the required information to set up for Online Banking or you need assistance enrolling, you may contact us 24/7 at the number listed above to speak with a Banking Specialist. Upon proper account verification, we would be happy to help get you started.
Please kindly keep in mind, once you choose not to enroll in this service, your one-time debit or ATM transactions may be declined the moment you swipe your card if you do not have enough money available in your checking account and no fee will be assessed. We may authorize and pay overdrafts for your other transaction types at our discretion.
