We appreciate you reaching out to us with your question, James.
We understand at times a payee may request a money order for payment. A money order can only be obtained using cash or a withdrawal from your account. Please note, you must be a TD Bank Customer in order to use this service. Please visit http://bit.ly/1cTejgt for the fees associated with obtaining a money order.
If you would like to use a personal check from someone to obtain a money order, the check must be first deposited into your account. You can deposit the check via TD Bank Mobile App or by visiting any TD Bank Store.
If you have a TD Bank account, you may deposit the personal check via TD Bank Mobile App. To use this feature, you must first be enrolled in Online Banking via www.tdbank.com. Which you can enroll by following this link: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY. You will need your account number, TD Visa/Debit card, social security number and your email address. If you do not have the following, you can call us at 800-493-7562. After account verification, we would be happy to set up your Online Banking. You could also visit the Store for assistance in getting set up.
Once you’ve gained full access to your account Online via the PC, you can then download the Mobile App. To receive a text message for a link to the App, click here: http://bit.ly/Mv5SP0 where you can input your cell phone number. You could also visit the App Store (I Phone) or Play Store (Android Phone). After the Mobile App has successfully been downloaded, you can enroll in the Mobile Deposit feature and deposit the check via your phone at the comfort of your home.
If you prefer, you could also deposit the check by visiting your local TD Bank Store. For locations and hours near you, please follow this link: http://bit.ly/TDStores. You may then request a money order after the funds have cleared your account. The first $100 of your deposit is made available to you right away, as long as your account has been opened for 90 days. The remaining amount should be available to you the nest business day. For our funds availability policy, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (Pg. 35).
We hope you find that this answers your question and hope you have a great day.
