I recently got married, and did change my name to my married name on my account, but still have a bunch of checks with my maiden name on them, can I still use them? If I can, do I sign with my married name or maiden name?

Thanks for coming by TD Helps with your inquiry, Katherine.
If you have checks with your maiden name printed on them and as long as the account and routing numbers are still the same, you may still be able to present them and sign with the name shown on your account, however; it would be up to the payee's discretion if they would like to honor the payment. For these reasons we recommend obtaining new checks to ensure proper processing.
If you have not done so and prior to ordering new checks with your married name, we recommend updating this information on your TD account(s). To change your name and how it appears on your deposit account, we do require you to visit a TD Store for security purposes. You will need to bring a copy of your marriage certificate and other legal document stating your change in name. Please visit: http://bit.ly/TDStores for a list of our Store locations and hours.
Once your name has been updated on your account(s), you may speak with the Specialist at the Store for assistance in ordering new checks or you could call us at 888-751-9000. After account verification, we'd be happy to help.
We hope this helps, Katherine. Please let us know if you need anything else. Have a great day!
