I live in France with a British roommate who has a Natwest (british) bank account. I need to pay her rent, but I am not sure whether to keep the currency in USD or GBP or if I can even write her a check from my TD Bank account to her foreign account. Is this possible? Thank you.

Thanks for contacting TD Helps today, Jane. This is a great question, and we'll be happy to point you in the right direction.
As you have stated that your roommate will be depositing your check into her Financial Institution in England, we recommend contacting that institution directly for more details on how this check will be accepted, and what the process will be.
In addition, please note that as your account is only in U.S. Dollars, you will only be able to write your check in this currency. Typically, should a conversion need to be made, this will be done by the foreign bank once the check is accepted for deposit.
If you have any additional questions, you may dial us direct at 1-856-751-9000, or call Collect with operator assistance from any land line phone by asking the Operator to dial 1-215-569-0518. Specialists are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and will be more than happy to answer any questions or concerns that you may have.
We hope this helps, Jane, and please enjoy the rest of your day.
