Hello Amanda and thanks for coming to TD Helps this morning with your question.
Please understand, since your child is under the age of 18, he or she may open a joint Checking or Savings account with a Parent or Guardian by visiting any TD Bank Store. Please keep in mind that your child will need to provide a valid form of identification such as a State License, State ID or Passport. Acceptable forms of identification for minors include; School ID (preferably with a picture), Passport, US Birth Certificate or Social Security Card. Since your child needs to present proof of ID, the account can only be opened at a TD Bank location. Please check out: http://bit.ly/TDStores for a TD Bank Store near you.
At TD Bank, we offer a wide array of accounts and we invite you to visit the below links for more information. For checking account information please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1dbAcWh and also here for a personalized recommendation with our Checking Selector Tool: http://bit.ly/KmmHe7. If your Teen is a full-time student, a Student Checking account may work best for you. To learn more about our Student Checking account, which includes no monthly maintenance fee or minimum daily balance for students under the age of 24, please visit http://bit.ly/S8Vejp.
We can instantly issue Visa debit cards in our stores from Maine to Florida, which will immediately be active for purchases. Being that your child is under the age of 18, if a joint account will be opened, a Visa debit card can be issued as long as there is verbal consent of the adult on your new account.
We also offer the TD Go Card, which is also great for teens. The TD Bank Go Card is a great way to help our teen Customers manage funds and for Parents and Guardians to keep track of their spending. The TD Go Card is also easy to fund. Money can be loaded onto the card by the Account Owner by using any Visa or MasterCard, 24 hours a day 7 days a week via the TD Go Card website: http://bit.ly/1wibSus. We invite you to check out the TD Go Card Terms & Conditions here: http://bit.ly/1eSK0Du and also here: http://bit.ly/1zrVD2w for more details on our TD Go Card Guide which includes any fees applicable.
Parents/Guardians can obtain a TD Go card for their teen by visiting this link: http://bit.ly/1jWLKzt, which takes you to the "Enrollment" page. Parents or Guardians may enroll their teen in the card here by following the prompts.
