We both already have TD bank accounts but we need to open a joint account together. My husband can not use the same documents that he used to open his other TD bank account because his "status" within the US was different then and is somewhat pending now. My question is whether or not we can open a joint account with TD Bank with just his passport?

Hello Jacynta, we'd first like to thank you for choosing TD for your family's banking needs.
Please know that for your account protection and security, an account can be opened with one of the following valid primary forms of ID along with a valid U.S. Social Security number:
-State Driver's License with Photo and Signature
-State Issued ID with Photo and Signature
-Temporary Driver's License with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
-Learner's Permit with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
-Federal Government Employee ID with Photo
-US Government VISA with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
-US Passport with Signature
-US Armed Forces (Military) ID with Photo
As your husband doesn't have a U.S. Social Security number at this moment, he may still be eligible to open an account with us. He will need to bring two forms of identification with him and stop by the local TD Bank Store during our lobby hours to set up the new joint account. One form of ID must be a Non-US passport and the second form of ID you may select from the list below:
• Employment ID with Photo and Signature
• US Birth Certificate
• US Passport Card with Photo
• Welfare ID with Photo
• State Issued Driver's License with Signature, no Photo
• Foreign Driver's License with Photo
• US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
• College ID with Photo
• Firearms Permit with Photo
• Alien Registration Card with Photo
• Permanent Resident Card with Photo
• Enhanced Tribal Card or Native American Tribal Photo ID Card
As a joint account can only be opened in person at a TD Bank Store location, during lobby hours, we recommend both of you to stop by your nearest TD Bank Store together with all the documents you currently have to determine if they're acceptable.
