Can someone who's not a member of TD bank, send money to me via the Send Money option available through TD, and if so, how can i explain that to the person who owes me money?

Welcome to TD Helps, Ashley. That's a great question!
Many financial institutions utilize Send Money, which is sent through Zelle. You may certainly receive a transfer sent with Send Money, or Zelle, even if they are not a TD Bank Customer.
In order for Send Money to work, both parties must have open and active accounts with open and active debit cards at one of the participating banks that use the Zelle network. While TD Bank does use Zelle, we do not have a list of the other financial institutions that use this service. We recommend reaching out to Zelle or viewing their website for information on participating banks.
If you are not currently enrolled in online banking, you may use our self-service option by visiting: http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY to begin the enrollment process. In order to do so, you will need your account number, TD Bank ATM/Debit Card, your Social Security Number and your email address. Once you're at the page, please select 'Personal' from the drop down box. When you select continue, you will have to read and accept the Online Banking Service Agreement. Then you will be asked to enter your personal information including the items mentioned earlier and to create a user name and password. Lastly, you will be asked to create three security questions.
If you do not have the required information to set up for online banking or you need assistance enrolling, you may contact us 24/7 at 800-493-7562 to speak with a Tech Support Specialist. Upon proper account verification, we would be happy to help get you started.
You may request money from your friend or family member, by clicking on the 'Send Money' tab, and then 'Request'. You will need to add your friend or family member as a contact in order to request the funds.
We encourage the sender of this transfer to reach out to their financial institution for instructions on how to use Send Money, as the steps will vary by financial institution.
We hope this information helps, Ashley. Have a wonderful day!
