You've brought a great question to TD Helps! Thanks for stopping by and we'll be more than happy to discuss this with you.
In order to open a joint account, all signers that will be listed on the account must be present at one of our Stores together to complete any necessary documentation, including your signature cards. We are happy to accommodate our non-resident Customers and we can certainly have your sister and father as Customers if they provide us with two forms of identification during the account-opening process. One form of ID must be a valid non-U.S. Passport with photo or valid non-U.S. Passport and Visa with photo and the second form of valid ID he may select from the list below:
- Employment ID with Photo and Signature
- State Issued ID or Driver's License with Signature
- Foreign Driver's License with Photo
- US Employment Authorization card with Photo, Signature and Expiration Date
- College ID with Photo
- Alien Registration Card with Photo
- Permanent Resident Card with Photo
That being said, you may begin an account here in the U.S. and have both your sister and father added as owners at a later time, when they may be in the States. We'd also recommend that you contact the TD Bank Store nearest you to determine if they can provide any other option to add them, given their locations. Please see http://bit.ly/TDStores to search for the convenient TD Bank Store locations near you, including lobby hours and their contact info.
We invite you to review our TD Bank U.S. Checking account options here: http://bit.ly/1oXjGgF, or use our Checking Selector at http://bit.ly/1vW1xnU. And our Savings products are listed here: http://bit.ly/1hzzhPT, or use our Savings Selector at http://bit.ly/1sxY9Rd.
If you do choose to begin the account individually at first, you may use the Open Account buttons at these links to begin your account application. Or, to open your account by phone, feel free to give us a call 24/7 at 888-751-9000 to speak with one of our dedicated Customer Service Representatives.
Hope this answers your question, Elena! Thanks again for your interest in banking with us, and have a wonderful weekend.
