Great question, Haley and you came to the right place for your answer.
Our Person-to-Person Payment service provides flexible ways to send and receive money to and from any other individual's bank account within the United States. It is simple and secure, with several delivery options. If you are looking to transfer funds to yourself at another financial institution you can use our External Transfer feature. You have the option to set-up instant, recurring, and/or future-dated transfers between your TD Bank accounts through your Personal Online Banking and accounts you have at other financial institutions, including Credit Unions and Brokerage accounts. Please be advised that these services are only available via our full site at this time, not via our Mobile App.
In order to be eligible to use the Person-to-Person payment service and External Transfer feature, you must have a United States address, a unique United States phone number, a United States issued Social Security number and a valid unique email address. You must also be enrolled for Online Banking and be using a TD Bank Checking or Money Market account for the transfer. Again, please also note that Person-to-Person payment will only allow you to transfer funds from your TD Bank Account to any other individual's bank account within the United States and External Transfer allows you to send funds to yourself from TD Bank to another financial institution.
If you have met all the requirements listed above and are also enrolled for online banking, you’ll need to be logged in to Online Banking from here http://bit.ly/1eaISlq.
To initiate a Person-to-Person payment:
- First, you must enroll in the service. To do so, you would select the tab that says Person-to-Person payments at the top of your Online Banking screen.
- Then, you will be asked to accept a user agreement, review the fee schedule and confirm your email and phone number. A text and email code will be sent to the mobile number and email address we have on file for you.
- Next we will request you to submit both codes for verification to complete the enrollment process.
You will have two delivery options when sending a Person-to-Person payment; there is the three business day option and the next business day delivery. Please note, the next day delivery option is not available for savings accounts. To qualify for the next day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful 3-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days.
To initiate an External Transfer, after logging onto your account, please choose the "Transfers" tab. Then click on "Transfer to Accounts Outside TD Bank." You will then be asked to accept a user agreement and review the fee schedule.
After the enrollment is completed, you may continue to schedule a transfer by adding your account at a different institution. To do so, select "Add a New Account." You will then be prompted to select the type of account followed by the account and routing numbers. Once you enter the required fields, the transfer service will then display whether or not you can make an immediate transfer. In some cases, a trial deposit is initiated at the receiving institution for verification purposes. You’re welcome to check out: http://bit.ly/1jXKYqq for all of the exciting details.
When sending an External Transfer, you will have two delivery options, three-day or next-day delivery. To qualify for the next-day delivery option, you must wait 90 days from your first successful three-day transfer and must not have had any transactions that overdrew your account in the past 90 days. Please note, fees may apply for the External Transfer service.
For the Transfers Terms and Conditions please see: http://bit.ly/1lkiC6K, and for more information on the fee schedule, please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
If you are not currently enrolled for Online Banking and wish to enroll for Online Banking for your Personal Checking account, you may use our self-service option by visiting http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY to begin the enrollment process. In order to do so, you will need your account number, TD Bank ATM/Debit Card, your Social Security Number and your email address. Once at the page, please select "Personal" from the drop down box. When you select continue, you will have to read and accept the Online Banking Service Agreement. Then you will be asked to enter your personal information including the items mentioned earlier and to create a user name and password. Finally you will be asked to create three security questions. When you finish the enrollment process, you will have immediate access to your account(s).
