We appreciate you asking us your question on TD Helps, John.
Here at TD Bank, we offer a wide array of accounts and we invite you and your daughter to visit the following links for more information. For Checking account information please take a look here: http://bit.ly/1dbAcWh. For a personalized recommendation, you may check here for our Checking Account Selector: http://bit.ly/1DEMFS4.
If your daughter is a full-time student and at least 18 years of age, a Student Checking account may be best for her. To learn more about our Student Checking account, which includes no monthly maintenance fee or minimum daily balance for students under the age of 24, please visit http://bit.ly/S8Vejp. Once a Checking account is open, we can instantly issue Visa debit cards in our stores from Maine to Florida, which will immediately be active for purchases.
Individuals under the age of 18 may open a joint Checking account with their parent or legal Guardian by visiting any TD Bank Store. For a listing of TD Bank locations, please look here: http://bit.ly/TDStores. If you sign as a joint account owner with your daughter, you can allow her to receive a TD Visa Debit Card if you wish.
We also have another option for you:
You and your daughter may be interested in the TD Bank GO Card. The TD Bank GO Card is a great way to help your daughter manage their funds and also for you to keep track of their spending.
The TD Go Card is easy to fund. Money may be loaded onto the card by the Account Owner using any TD Bank Debit or Credit Card, 24 hours a day 7 days a week via the TD Go Card website http://bit.ly/1wibSus. A $1 load fee applies; for a full list of fees, please see the Terms & Conditions http://bit.ly/1eSK0Du or Account Guide http://bit.ly/1zrVD2w. After the initial deposit to the card, Account Owners and Cardholders may also set up a free direct deposit from employer(s). The Account Owner may also invite family and friends to load funds to the card. For detailed instructions, visit us online or call 855-219-8050. Funds deposited will generally be available the same business day using one of these methods. Funds loaded to the card using direct deposit will generally be available on the business day we receive the transfer. Please keep in mind an ATM card cannot be used to fund a TD Go Card.
If you are interested in getting a card for your daughter, you can do so by visiting this link: http://bit.ly/1jWLKzt to take you to the "Enrollment" page. Please select the "Enrollment Type" and select "Continue". You will then be asked to create your profile and a series of questions will be asked. Once you've created a profile, you will then be able to add your teen by selecting the "Adding a Teen" button. You will need to provide the teen's information and fund the card.
We recommend also contacting us directly shortly after the account opening process as you've mentioned that your daughter will be traveling. You may do so by contacting us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or by visiting a TD Store during lobby hours. Our Representatives will be able to place a Travel Notification on her account to help prevent any interruptions in debit card usage.
Our TD Visa Debit Cards are accepted anywhere Visa is worldwide. Also, please note that depending on the type of account she chooses, fees for international purchases and ATM withdrawals may apply. Please refer to http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (pgs. 40-41) and http://bit.ly/1rJtRa8 (pg. 6) for more information about what type of fees to expect.
Thanks for reaching out enjoy your evening, John. We wish your daughter safe travels!
