Hello. 13 years ago I opened a bank account in Cape Cod Bank and Trust. At the moment I do not live in the United States and I am not a US citizen. I still have the social security number and a cash card. I would like to resume the use of the account. Is it possible?

Thanks for contacting TD Helps today, Matvey. This is a great question, and we'll be sure to help you out in any way we can.
We'd like to start off by giving you a little more about accounts and their statuses. First, activity would be required for an account in order to maintain an Active status. If no transactions (deposits or withdrawals) are initiated by a Customer on an account, it will be considered Inactive after a specified period of time. Savings, Checking or Money Market accounts are automatically changed to an inactive status after one year of no Customer-initiated activity, and these accounts will be Dormant after three or five years of no activity, depending on your region or State.
You're also welcome to see the article listed here: http://1.usa.gov/1ED20S9, which reviews information about abandoned or unclaimed accounts in the U.S. Please keep in mind that once an account becomes dormant, it can be turned over to the State in which the account was opened after a 3 or 5 years of no activity, depending on your location.
Please note that if this has occurred with your account, you'll be able to contact the State to claim the funds. There is no time limit to do this. You may be able to locate their telephone number via your State's website, or you're welcome to call us at 888-751-9000, and we'll be able to provide your State contact info for you over the phone.
As this is pertaining to your account specifically, we ask that you contact us directly for assistance. You may do so 24/7 by dialing 888-751-9000. Since you have stated that you are currently not in the United States, please dial us direct at 1-856-751-9000 or call Collect with operator assistance from any land line phone by asking the Operator to dial 1-215-569-0518.
We hope this helped answer your question, Matvey, and please enjoy the rest of your day.
