Thank you for reaching us on TD Helps, John. Please accept our condolences for your loss.
Generally speaking, you may deposit the check that has been issued if you are also a signer on the account the payee is listed on. You can visit any TD Store during lobby hours to complete the transaction. For Store hours and locations near you please visit http://bit.ly/TDStores. We apologize, as you would not be able to cash a check in which the payee cannot be present.
Please note; government or insurance checks can only be presented for payment from the person listed on the "Payable to" line of the check. If you are referring to a government or insurance check, we recommend reaching out to the issuer to inquire about other payment options to any other applicable parties.
We also invite you to take a look here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ for more information on our Funds Availability (pages 38-41) for when you have access to funds after deposit.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reach out to us 24/7, at 888-751-9000.
We hope this helps, John, and thank you again for coming by TD Helps with your discussion.
