I opened an account one month ago in order to get my last paychceck and tax return. Now I got some document called Certificate of Foreign Status of Beneficial Owner for United States Tax Withholding and Reporting. Is it neccessary to send you the copy of my passport again? You took one during opening my account. I also have a question, how is tax withholding correlated with my chcecking account? Thank you for your help!

Dear TD team,
A letter from TD Bank in the attachment was delivered to my US address last weekend. It requires me to provide TD Bank the physical copies of my passport and evidence of my permanent address outside of USA again to certify I'm not a U.S. tax resident.
However, the TD Convenience Checking I opened last month is not able to get interest, isn't it? I just wonder if I do need to provide the document copies required by the letter. It's not conveneint for me to provide such documents as I have been back to China.
Therefore, I have to seek out your professional advice about what I should to do for the requirement of the letter.
Your response will be always highly appreciated.

We hope this clears things up, Chunsheng, and have a good day.

Dear TD Team. I have similar question. I got the same paperwork including information that till I send you my passport, and nonresident status, you will continue withholding 25% of my money for tax purposes. The thing is that I get checks from my work which do not have any taxes deducted - due to treaty with my country I do not have to pay any taxes in US. For example: my salary before any taxes is 4000$ per month and this is exactly the same amount of money I get on my check. When I place check deposit at TD, I also get 4000$ on my bank account. That said, I guess you don't withhold any of my money (even if you have written so in the letter?
