Welcome to TD Bank, Ronald!
So good to have you here and we thank you for opening a new account with us.
First, we'd like to let you know that if you ordered a debit card during the account-opening process, this usually arrives to you by mail within 7-10 business days. If you would rather have one sooner than that, you might like to learn that all of our Stores have instant-issue cards available! This is one of the great features about banking with us and you can stop in to any of our locations during lobby hours: http://bit.ly/TDStores to request one. Just ask your Representative to cancel the one that is on the way, since you won't need it.
With that being said, we'd like to tell you that your debit card number is not needed to begin a direct deposit. For that, you will need your checking account number and routing number.
To locate your checking account number, seeing that you've just opened your account you have a couple of options. First, you could log in to your TD Bank Online Banking account at http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. Once you log in, you will be brought to the Accounts tab, which lists any accounts you have and their full account numbers. If you aren't banking online yet but you've made your initial deposit, you can always call us and we'll help you get set up by phone at 888-751-9000, 24/7. Otherwise, you can stop in to a Store to get your account number and please find a store near you at the first link above.
You will also need your TD Bank routing (ABA) number for the deposit. Please note that routing numbers are based on the State where you originally opened your account. For a list of our routing numbers by State, please visit: http://bit.ly/1cmRPoF.
In addition, if it is useful to you, please find a Direct Deposit Authorization Form available for download at http://bit.ly/1sSvhT6. This form can be presented to your employer to begin your direct deposit. You can also obtain one of these if you decide to stop in.
We hope this helps with your question, Ronald!
Enjoy your new account and please let us know about any other questions. Have a great one!
