Hi Christine, thanks for connecting with us this morning. TD Helps is here to answer any currency or exchange questions you have.
Yes, we accept deposits made into your TD Bank account from over 40 different foreign currencies. As long as the check item has an equivalent value of at least $100.00 USD, you can bring it into your local TD Bank Store for deposit. Please find the Store closest to you here: http://bit.ly/TDStores. Please also know that all foreign check deposits must be made in person with a Teller and cannot be deposited through an ATM machine, Bank-by-Mail or our Mobile Deposit feature.
Conversion rates will be applied on the day that the check item is processed by our Foreign Check Collection Department and rates used for currency conversion are provided by our TD Bank traders – we do not use rates printed by third parties in newspapers or published online. Also, some extended verification times may apply to foreign deposits made into your TD Bank account; depending on the currency and amount. We invite you to take a look at our Personal Deposit Account Agreement for more information on our Funds Availability Policy here: http://bit.ly/1kb17UQ (Pgs.38-41).
As far as foreign money orders, TD Bank only accepts postal money orders made payable in CAD, GBP and AUD that have an MICR line. If you have an international postal money order in any other foreign currency, you may process that at your local post office.
Fees may apply to your foreign currency check deposits. For Canadian deposits $5000 USD equivalent or over, or any other foreign currencies (of any denomination), an exchange fee of $17.50 will be applied at the time that the check item is converted. Please note that fees are subject to change. To review our current Fee Schedule, please check it out here: http://bit.ly/1cTejgt.
Hope this information helps Christine. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact one of our Banking Specialists 24/7 at 888-751-9000. Have a great day!
