It's great to hear from you today, Tzu Chieh, and we appreciate you coming to TD Helps for assistance.
When you are no longer within TD Bank's footprint, and need to close your account, there are a couple ways you are able to do so, and they may vary depending on the current balance in your account. To avoid any confusion, we'll be happy to provide you with all your options, and you may then choose the one that is most convenient for you.
First, if your account currently has a zero dollar balance, you may connect with a Specialist directly, and we'll be happy to process the account closure for you. You're welcome to first call and speak with a Banking Specialist, 24/7, at 1-888-751-9000, or you may also call collect with operator assistance, from a landline device, by asking the operator to dial (215)-569-0518.
If you're unable to call, we understand, and you would also have the option of sending us a secure message directly from your Online Banking. To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'.
If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
It's important to note that if you plan on sending us a secure message to close your account, please be sure to include your account number along with your request in your message as this information will be needed for a Specialist to successfully proceed.
If your account still has a balance, and you are unable to bring the balance to zero to take advantage of any of the methods mentioned above, you would have the option to close your account by mailing TD Bank a signed, written, and notarized request to the following address:
TD Bank, N.A.
Your home Store address
Your home Store telephone number
Your request will need to include all account numbers so that we may issue you a check for the remaining funds in your account(s), as well as your final statement.
If you're unfamiliar with your Store address and telephone number, you may take a look at the link here: https://go.td.com/2i69WrB to find your Store location, or you may also contact us at any of the methods mentioned above, and we'll be happy to provide you with this information.
We're sorry to see you go, Tzu Chieh, but we hope this information was helpful.
Take care, and enjoy the start to your weekend.
