Thank you for coming to TD Helps with your question, Jess. We will be happy to give you the procedures to follow.
If your account is currently open with an overdrawn balance, and you have another active TD deposit account, such as a Checking, Statement Savings or Money Market account, you may initiate an online transfer to pay your negative balance on your account via your Online Banking.
If you are enrolled for Online Banking, you may first access your accounts from here: http://bit.ly/1eaISlq. Once you are logged onto your accounts, please follow these steps to make this transfer:
1. Click on the “Transfers” tab, located on the top of your screen. 2. Enter the amount you wish to transfer in the box 3. Select the proper “TO” and “FROM” accounts 4. Select “Immediate Transfer” 5. Click on “Schedule Transfer” 6. Finally, click on “Complete Transfer"
If you are not currently enrolled for Online Banking and wish to enroll for your Personal accounts, you may use our self-service option by visiting http://bit.ly/1lU2qfY to begin the enrollment process. In order to do so, you will need your account number, TD Bank ATM/Debit Card, your Social Security Number and your email address. Once at the page, please select "Personal" from the drop down box. When you select continue, you will have to read and accept the Online Banking Service Agreement. Then you will be asked to enter your personal information including the items mentioned earlier and to create a user name and password. Once an account is brought to a $0 balance, you may call us at 888-751-9000 to have it closed. We're available here 24/7 if you can't make it into a Store location to close your account. Also, you're more than welcome to send us a Secure Message via your Online Banking. After logging on to your account, look to the Message Center on the left-hand side. You'll find a link to 'Send a Message' there, where you can submit your request. Please be sure to specify the account number you wish to close if you choose this method.
If you don't have other deposit accounts with us or have a Business account with us that you'd like to close, this request must be completed at a TD Bank Store location. To find out the nearest TD Store near you, please visit, http://bit.ly/TDStores.
We apologize as we are unable to close an account with an overdrawn balance. Please also note that we recommend contacting your depositor directly if you'd like to reject the deposits from going into your account.
Let us know if you have any other questions. We hope you have a nice weekend!
