Good afternoon, Yu Shan.
We're sorry to hear that you're looking to close your TD Bank account; however, we understand, and we'll be happy to help.
As you mentioned that you were hoping to visit a TD Ameritrade location to request to have your TD Bank deposit account closed, we'd like to take a moment to explain that while we share the same TD shield, we are different entities. Because of this, unfortunately, a TD Ameritrade location would be unable to access your account information to assist. However, we'll gladly provide you with all the options you have, and you're welcome to choose whichever is the most convenient for you.
The first and most convenient way to close your deposit account is to visit a TD Store location. So that we may properly assist you, we ask that you visit us during lobby hours, to speak with a Customer Service Representative. For your convenience, we have provided a link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to help you find your nearest Store location, as well as their lobby hours.
If your account currently has a zero dollar balance, and you're unable to visit a TD Store location, you may call or send a Banking Specialist a Secure Message with your request. You may first reach a Banking Specialist by dialing 1-888-751-9000, and for your convenience, they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you'd prefer to send a Secure Message, you may do so by simply logging into your Personal Online Banking.
To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
In the event that your account has a balance, and you would be unable to call or send a Secure Message, you would also have the options of mailing a written, signed, and notarized request to the following address:
TD Bank, N.A.
Your home Store address
Your home Store telephone number
If you're unfamiliar with your home Store's information, you're welcome to call the number mentioned above, and after verification, we'll be happy to provide you with this information.
If you have any questions or concerns, you're also welcome to connect with us in whichever method may be the most convenient for you, as we're always happy to help!
Thanks for stopping by today, Yu Shan. Enjoy the rest of your day!
