As you've mentioned that your account currently has a balance, you must withdraw the funds before closing the account. If you have an account with TD Canada Trust, you can transfer funds between your TD Bank US and TD Canada Trust personal accounts, using our free Cross Border Banking service. If you wish to use this service, please contact Cross Border Banking directly, 24/7, at 877-700-2913 to complete a transfer.
Once your account balance is zero, you may call us directly at 888-751-9000, to request for your account to be closed. If you currently have access to online banking, you may also submit your request via secure message. To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'. Please be sure to include your account number, which you are requesting to close.
If you are unable to bring your account balance to zero, an alternative way to close the account is via mailed written request. You may request to close your account and have the available balance in your account sent to you by check. You can mail a request with the following instructions:
▪Your account number(s)
▪Your request to close the account(s)
▪Your current address
For your security, please have the letter notarized and mailed to your home Store. Your home Store is the location in which you opened your account at or the account that was assigned to your account upon opening. To find the address of your home Store, take a look at http://bit.ly/TDStores.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via the phone number provided above.
