Good afternoon, Toprak, and welcome to TD Helps!
We're sorry to hear that you'll be closing your account with us, but as it sounds like you have relocated out of the United States, we completely understand.
In case you may be interested in keeping your account, we'd like to take a moment to let you know that we have options available to help you maintain your account, even when you're out of the TD footprint! Here at TD Bank we offer Bill Pay, Online Banking, and Mobile Banking, and much more. If you'd like to learn more, feel free to check out the link here https://go.td.com/1NsLes1 for more details.
Should you decide that closing your account may be a better option for you, we understand, and we'll be happy to help provide you with your current options.
If your account currently has a balance, we ask that you visit us at any TD Bank Store for further assistance; however, as you may not be able to visit a TD Store location at time, the easiest way to close the account from abroad is via a mailed, written request. By choosing this method, you may request to close your account, and any available funds will be sent to you by check. Please mail your written, signed, and notarized request to:
TD Bank, N.A.
Your home Store address
Your home Store phone number
Please be sure to provide all account numbers so we may issue you a check for the remaining funds in your account(s), as well as your final statement. Additionally, if you're not aware of the address of telephone number of the TD Bank Store where your account was originally opened, you're welcome to use the link here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR to locate more information.
If you prefer, another option is to remove any remaining funds from your current location, such as via your TD Bank Visa Debit Card, check, or transfer. If you choose to use this method, once the funds have been removed, please contact a Specialist, 24/7, by simply dialing 1-888-751-9000. As you are not in the United States, you can also call collect, with operator assistance, by asking the operator to dial (215)-569-0518.
If your account currently holds a zero balance, or if you have been able to remove any remaining funds, in addition to calling the number above, you may also send a Secure Message directly from your Online Banking to request to have your account closed.
To send a secure message, you will first want to log into your TD Bank online profile by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1eaISlq. If you haven't signed up to Online Banking, and would like to, the link here: https://go.td.com/1lU2qfY can take you directly to this page. You will need your account number, debit card number, Social Security Number, and a valid U.S. email address to complete this process. Once you've successfully logged in, look for the 'Message Center' on the left hand side and select 'Send a secure message'.
If you have downloaded our mobile banking app for your smartphone, you may also use this method to send a secure message. From your Mobile Banking, log in and select 'Send a Secure Message' from the side Menu. We generally respond within 24 hours or less.
It's important to note that if you are able to bring your account to a zero dollar balance, that you connect with a Specialist in one of the methods mentioned above, as the account will not close automatically.
If you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to give us a call at the number mentioned above, and we'll be happy to help!
Thanks again for stopping by, Toprak. Have a great day!
