I no longer live on the East Coast, and cannot close my account in branch. I zeroed out my account and emailed the secured message asking them to close my account. I can no longer log in, so I assumed my account was closed and that was that. But then I got an email saying my statement was available.
So is my account closed or not?

Based on your question, it does sound as though your account was successfully closed. We do recommend reaching out to us directly for confirmation and in regards to your statement emails. You are able to call our Tech Support Specialists 24/7 by dialing 800-493-7562. They will be glad to confirm if your account is closed as well as assist with the statement emails you're receiving.
