Thank you for coming to us with this request, Ellen. We understand that banking needs change and we'd be glad to help.
We apologize for any inconvenience, Ellen, however TD Helps is considered an unsecured forum. Because of this, we do not have access to your account/personal information to assist with your specific request. Don't worry though. We offer a variety of ways to reach a Specialist who can assist.
You are able to visit any TD Store during lobby hours to debit the funds and close an account in one step. Please review TD Stores near you and their hours here: http://go.td.com/1f9DSJR.
As you've mentioned that you're planning on debiting the funds, our Specialists over the phone and via secure message are able to close an account on your behalf once the balance is $0.00. Once you notice that the balance is zero, feel free to call us 24/7 at 888-751-9000 or send a secure message while signed in online.
To send a secure message using Online Banking, please sign in here: http://go.td.com/1eaISlq and select 'Send a secure message' located in the 'Message Center' on the left hand side of the page. For Mobile Banking, select the option to 'Contact Us' followed by 'Send a secure message' after signing in.
If you'd like to reopen a savings account down the line, we encourage you to review the savings accounts we have to offer here: https://go.td.com/2dIcnAw. We also offer a Savings Selector Tool to help you make a choice based on your needs here: https://go.td.com/1hXi2wF.
Have a wonderful day, Ellen, and thanks for choosing TD.
