Hello, I would like to know if transferring money into a credit card account that still has credit will increase the available credit for that month? Example: Credit limit is $1000 and you transfer over $500, will you be able to purchase something that is $1500? Or if you already have purchases but wish to buy more will transferring money over to the card allow for more purchases?

Hi Jamie! Thanks for coming to TD Helps with your question.
While you're unable to extend your credit limit by overpaying your credit card account, we'd be happy to review your account for a credit limit increase. Just give our Credit Card Customer Service Team a call at 888-561-8861. We have representatives available 24/7 that would be glad to submit the request for you.
In regard to paying down your balance, if you have a balance owed, and you make a payment, it will make more available to you. For example, if you have a credit limit of $1,000.00 and there is $500.00 in purchases already, this leaves you $500.00 available to spend. If you make a payment of $250.00, it would increase your spending to $750.00. Of course this example does not take into consideration any interest charges that can accrue when carrying a balance.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to give us a call at the number provided above or stop in to see us at any of our Stores. To find one near you, please click here: https://go.td.com/1nq31dc.
As we see you're writing in to us from Brampton, we want to provide you with contact info for TD Canada Trust, in case your credit card account is with them rather than us here at TD Bank in the United States.
You can start by posing your question to our friends at TD Helps in Canada, by clicking here: https://go.td.com/1QBOF4U. If you'd like to speak with a representative at TD Canada Trust directly, you can call their Credit Card Customer Service line at 800-983-8472. We also want to provide you with a link to all of TD Canada Trust's contact info. You can find that by clicking here: https://go.td.com/2tp27BR.
We're certain they'll be able to give you any info you'll need about your credit card account.
We hope you're having a great day, Jamie! Take care.
